Description

Polycarbonate 3D printer filament

Polycarbonate (PC) is a high strength material intended for tough environments and engineering applications. It has extremely high heat deflection, and impact resistance. Polycarbonate is most commonly used for its three main features: optical clarity, resistance to heat, and incredible toughness. PC can be found in DVDs, safety glasses, riot shields, or even bulletproof glass.

GL Robotics PC is an engineering grade filament that has been specifically formulated to be used for 3D printing. Our PC offers excellent rigidity and heat resistance as well as clarity in its natural form. This PC has a slightly lower melt temperature than traditional Poly-carbonate to allow for use with most 3D printers.

  • Excellent toughness and rigidity
  • Easy printing with low warpage
  • Excellent clarity in natural form
  • High heat resistance

Recommended Print Settings:

  • Extruder Temp: 245 - 265°C
  • Bed Temp: 95-110°C (PEI sheet)
  • Enclosure recommended

  • Exceptional Toughness & Rigidity: Create parts that can withstand significant impacts and maintain their structural integrity under stress, making it ideal for robust functional components.
  • High Heat Resistance: With an extremely high heat deflection temperature, our PC is perfectly suited for applications exposed to elevated temperatures, far exceeding the capabilities of most other filaments.
  • Excellent Clarity (Natural Form): In its natural state, our PC filament prints with remarkable optical clarity, opening up possibilities for translucent or transparent functional parts.
  • Engineered for 3D Printing: Specifically formulated for easier printing with reduced warpage compared to standard Polycarbonate, allowing for more successful and consistent prints.
  • Versatile Engineering Applications: The ideal material for demanding prototypes, jigs and fixtures, functional end-use parts, automotive components, and applications requiring bulletproof-grade toughness.

Warnings and Advisories
  • An enclosure is highly recommended (Crucial for minimizing warping and ensuring consistent print quality due to PC's high glass transition temperature.)

Recommended Starting Printing Settings
  • Extruder Temperature: 245°C - 265°C
  • Bed Temperature: 95°C - 110°C (optimized for PEI sheets for best adhesion)
  • Print Speed (Typical): 40-70 mm/s (Start moderately to ensure proper layer adhesion and prevent delamination. Adjust as needed for your printer and part geometry.)
  • Enclosure: Highly Recommended (Crucial for minimizing warping and ensuring consistent print quality due to PC's high glass transition temperature.)

The above settings are general guidelines. The exact optimal settings can vary slightly depending on your specific 3D printer model, the brand of filament, and even environmental factors like room temperature. Always refer to any specific recommendations provided by the filament manufacturer on the spool or packaging.
