Description

American Filament PCTG is very similar to PETG with several distinct advantages. You could even call it a PETG+! Our PCTG is made with a PET-based copolyester specifically designed for professional grade 3D printing applications where easy processing and high toughness are critical.

Our PCTG is made with a PET-based copolyester specifically designed for professional grade 3D printing applications where easy processing and high toughness are critical.

This material features a unique self-bonding ability providing very high layer-to-layer adhesion; possesses a high melt strength ensuring an even flow during the 3D printing process; is more chemically resistant & stable than PETG, ABS, or ASA (making it suitable for a wide variety of applications); boasts unmatched impact strength & toughness; has lower moisture absorption than PETG (making it more shelf stable); and can be printed reliably without an enclosure.

Unlike PETG, the finish of PCTG can vary between matte and glossy depending upon the temperature and speed settings you choose. Try 240-245°C to get that matte finish!

Key Features:

  • Unmatched Strength & Toughness: Higher compressive, tensile, and impact strength than many other PETGs.
  • High-Temp: Glass Transition Temperature of 85°C.
  • Professional-Grade Performance
  • Low Odor
  • Does NOT Require Drying Before Use
  • Effortless Printing: Even flow rate & wide range of nozzle temperatures.
  • Made in the USA: Manufactured with American quality you can trust.

Related Material: PCTG: The Next Evolution of Performance – Your PETG+! Benefits
  • Unmatched Strength & Toughness: Experience superior compressive, tensile, and impact strength, making it significantly more robust than many other PETGs and an excellent choice for demanding functional parts.
  • Unique Self-Bonding Ability: Boasts very high layer-to-layer adhesion, ensuring incredibly strong and reliable prints with outstanding structural integrity.
  • Enhanced Chemical Resistance & Stability: More chemically resistant and stable than PETG, ABS, or ASA, broadening its suitability for a wide variety of industrial and specialized applications.
  • High-Temperature Performance: With a Glass Transition Temperature (Tg) of 85°C, prints maintain their form and function in elevated temperature environments.
  • Effortless Printing: Designed for seamless 3D printing with a high melt strength ensuring an even and consistent flow rate. It offers a wide range of compatible nozzle temperatures, making it user-friendly.
  • Reliable Printing Without an Enclosure: Unlike many advanced materials, our PCTG can be printed reliably without the need for an enclosure, simplifying your setup and expanding printer compatibility.
  • Lower Moisture Absorption: Compared to PETG, PCTG exhibits lower moisture absorption, contributing to greater shelf stability and reducing the need for drying before use.
  • Versatile Finish Options: Achieve diverse aesthetics – the finish of PCTG can vary between matte and glossy depending on your chosen temperature and speed settings. Try 240-245°C to achieve that desirable matte finish!
  • Low Odor: Enjoy a more pleasant printing experience with minimal odor during the printing process.
  • Professional-Grade Performance: Engineered for consistent, high-quality results in demanding environments.
  • Made in the USA: Manufactured using premium materials and processes, guaranteeing top-tier quality.

Warnings and Advisories
  • Moisture Management: While our PCTG boasts lower moisture absorption than standard PETG for improved shelf stability, we still recommend storing it in a dry environment, ideally in a sealed bag with desiccant. If print quality degrades (e.g., increased stringing or bubbling), consider drying the filament.
  • Build Plate Adhesion: PCTG offers exceptional adhesion to PEI sheets at the recommended bed temperatures. For other build surfaces like glass, applying a thin layer of PVA glue stick or painter's tape is advised to ensure proper adhesion and aid in print removal without damaging the surface.
  • Tuning for Perfection: While designed for effortless printing, fine-tuning retraction settings (distance and speed) in your slicer can help eliminate any minor stringing or oozing, especially on intricate models.

Recommended Starting Printing Settings
  • Extruder Temperature: Consult the product label/profile, but typically within a wide range due to its "easy processing" nature. (Commonly 240-270°C, with 240-245°C suggested for matte finish).
  • Bed Temperature: (Commonly 70-90°C for good adhesion, though it's less prone to warp than ABS/ASA).
  • Print Speed: (Similar to premium PETG/ASA, likely 60-90+ mm/s once dialed in).

The above settings are general guidelines. The exact optimal settings can vary slightly depending on your specific 3D printer model, the brand of filament, and even environmental factors like room temperature. Always refer to any specific recommendations provided by the filament manufacturer on the spool or packaging.
